Particle in Cell-Monte Carlo Collisions of a Plasma Column Driven by Surface Wave Plasma Discharges
In this work, applicability of Particle in Cell-Monte Carlo Collisions (PIC-MCC) simulation method for better understanding of the plasma physical mechanisms and real important aspects of a plasma column driven by surface wave plasma discharges that is used in plasma antennas is examined. Via the implementation of geometry and physical parameters of the plasma column to an Object Oriented PIC-M...

متن کاملQuantum dot infrared photodetector enhanced by surface plasma wave excitation.
Up to a thirty-fold detectivity enhancement is achieved for an InAs quantum dot infrared photodetector (QDIP) by the excitation of surface plasma waves (SPWs) using a metal photonic crystal (MPC) integrated on top of the detector absorption region. The MPC is a 100 nm-thick gold film perforated with a 3.6 microm period square array of circular holes. A bare QDIP shows a bias-tunable broadband r...
متن کاملPseudorelativistic laser-semiconductor quantum plasma interactions.
A model is presented for the nonlinear interaction between a large-amplitude laser and semiconductor plasma in the semirelativistic quantum regime. The collective behavior of the electrons in the conduction band of a narrow-gap semiconductor is modeled by a Klein-Gordon equation, which is nonlinearly coupled with the electromagnetic (EM) wave through the Maxwell equations. The parametric instab...
متن کاملThe plasma-insulator transition of spin-polarized Hydrogen
A mixed classical-quantum density functional theory is used to calculate pair correlations and the free energy of a spin-polarized Hydrogen plasma. A transition to an atomic insulator phase is estimated to occur around rs = 2.5 at T = 10 K, and a pressure P ≈ 0.5Mbar. Spin polarization is imposed to prevent the formation of H2 molecules.
